Grafton Lakes State Park will host our third annual luminary walk on Friday, December 8th. The weather might be frightful, but up at Grafton, we will be enjoying the brisk air, good company, and a trail lit by luminary lanterns! Come as a couple or bring out the whole family. The self-led trail is perfect for a romantic stroll, mesmerizing the kids, or anything in-between. $5 per person, cash only. No registration required.

Guided Hike

Join an Environmental Educator on a guided hike around Shaver Pond. On this slow-paced walk, we will be looking at whatever natural curiosities intrigue the group, from birds to trees. If conditions are icy, participants are encouraged to bring Micro Spikes or other ice traction devices and to dress appropriately for the cold. This is a free program, open to all ages. Registration is required, call 518-279-1155 to register.

Join us for a moderate hike around Shaver Pond. The trail may be rocky and uneven at times. Beautiful view of Shaver pond while walking through a hemlock forest. Please bring sturdy footwear, warm layers, snacks, water may be necessary for the walk. Meet at theWelcome Center.

Join us for a moderate to difficult hike to Dickinson Hill Fire Tower. This 4 mile round trip hike will start at the north end of Long Pond parking lot and travel to our historic fire tower. Views from the fire tower cab include views of the Catskill Mountains, Green Mountains, Helderbergs, and Taconic Mountains. Please bring sturdy shoes, layers, snacks, water, possible traction devices (microspikes or snowshoes).Meet at North Long Pong Road Parking Lot.

Ice Fishing Contest

Join us for our Ice Fishing Contest! Cash prizes awarded for adults with 1st place fish (longest catch). Categories are rainbow/brown trout, walleye/chain pickerel, and yellow perch. Anglers with 2nd and 3rd place fish will receive gift cards or other prizes. Awards ceremony will take place at 2:20pm. Kids contest winners will receive prizes as well. All those who register will also be entered into a raffle for door prizes. This year, Grafton Lakes State Park, will be participating in the MLK Food Drive. Participants will receive one extra ticket for bringing in donations. We are accepting non-perishable food, hygiene products, and cash donations. Only one extra ticket per person -regardless of the donation amount. Expired items or dented cans cannot be accepted. $10 for adults (cash only), children (15 and under) free. Registration starts at 5:30am at Maintenance Building. Call 518-279-1155 for more information.

Winter Festival

Embrace the chill at our 39th Winter Festival! Join snowshoe adventures with LL Bean, meet Uncharted Wildlife's live animals, and catch Kelly Martin, our local animal rehabber with her birds of prey. Savor delights from local food trucks! Don't miss family fun activities with Dyken Pond and Rensselaer Youth Outdoors! Grafton will also have new kick-sleds available for use on Long Pond! Don't miss the coolest event this winter! We'll kick off the festival with the Polar Plunge, hosted by the Knights of Columbus, at 11:30am. All other activities will begin at noon. Free event. All ages. No registration.
