St. Joseph's Church

St. Joseph's Church With the help of a state preservation grant, the State Historic Preservation Office is assisting the City of Albany, the Historic Albany Foundation, and local neighborhood groups to begin the process of stabilizing and preserving St. Joseph's Church on Ten Broeck Square. Built between 1856 and 1860, the church is one of the city's great landmarks and the physical anchor for the surrounding neighborhood. Due to a long period of neglect and deterioration, the building is in poor condition. Through cooperative efforts among key public and private partners, important steps are being taken to secure the church so its can once again become an active part of the city and serve the community in new and beneficial ways.
