Beginning in 2016 significant NY Parks 2020 improvements are coming to Cherry Plain State Park. During this exciting time please note the following temporary changes:
-The Park will only be open Friday through Monday;
-The beach will only be open on weekends;
-Only campsites 1 – 14 will be available for rental Friday through Sunday;
-The Water's Edge pavilion will not be available.

Cherry Plain State Park has 175 acres and features a sandy beach on Black River Pond, with bathhouse and comfort station nearby. Picnic grounds and a boat launch are adjacent to the beach. The park also has bridle paths and hiking, biking and nature trails that serve for cross-country skiing in winter. Anglers fish for bass, bullheads and pickerel and may also ice fish in winter.
The park has 10 trailer sites, 10 lakeside tent sites as well as 10 "hike-in" tent sites available for overnight camping.

Household pets only; caged or on a leash not more than 6 feet, rabies vaccination and proof of same required. Not permitted in buildings or bathing areas. For campers, if your site allows pets, there is a two-pet maximum.
2016 Swimming Season:
5/23 - 6/23, weekends only, 10am-6pm
6/30 - 9/7, open daily, 10 am-6pm
Row Boat rentals are also available when swimming is open.
Most New York State Parks charge a vehicle use fee to enter the facility. Fees vary by location and season. A list of entry fees and other park use fees is available below. For fees not listed or to verify information, please contact the park directly.
Your key to all season enjoyment of state parks is our season's pass. For $65, the Empire Passport provides you unlimited day use vehicle entry into most of our parks. Apply on-line or call your favorite park for more information.
Deposit of $20, plus a form of ID is required for each boat.
Rowboats - $5 per hour
Kayaks - $4 per half hour
Firewood source maps show a 50-mile radius from which untreated firewood may be moved to this campground. For more information see firewood restrictions.
Maps of the hunting area at Cherry Plain State Park are available at Grafton Lakes State Park's park office.
Hunters must sign in and out of the park at the office daily when hunting within the boundaries of the park.
Hunting is not permitted within 500 feet of any building, road, playground, or parking lot and all trails are considered safety zones where hunting is not allowed.

Join Ellie on a relaxed walk to the waterfalls. This two mile round trip outing will take you out into the Capital District Wildlife Management Area and along the Black River, which is known to support our native Brook Trout in its cool waters.
