To celebrate International Observe the Moon Night, come stare in awe, appreciation, and perhaps new understanding of our Moon! Bring binoculars if you have them as well as your curiosity, and cross your fingers for clear skies! We'll be joined by members of Albany Area Amateur Astronomers who will share some wisdom about this natural wonder we all see go through its cycles each month, no matter where we live on the planet. This is part of a global day of moon gazing with hundreds of events happening all over the planet. Meets at Deerfield lawn, so drive in the main entrance and take the first left into the lot. Cloudy skies may cancel so call 279-1155 to confirm.

Fall Foliage Hike to the Fire Tower

Grafton Lakes State Park
(518) 279-1155

Join Grafton Lakes State Park's Environmental Educator on a 3 mile round trip hike to this historic fire tower, recently restored by the Friends of Grafton Lakes State Park. Fall foliage and views of three states greet those who climb the eighty steps to the top. The hike includes brief steep portions and uneven terrain over an old fire road, so hiking boots are recommended. Pack water and a lunch to savor on the hilltop. (If you have a dog, please consider going on October 8th, the weekend prior, for our Doggie Hike to the Fire Tower so you can meet some other hiking pooches!)
